north Devon, Exmoor etc

I have not had the time to blog for a while and there have not been many things to write about and also I am not sure if I have that many if any followers but never mind.

Last week I had a few days off work so went on a trip to North Devon and for a change instead of just driving past Stonehenge on the A303 I decided to stop pay the money and walk around the stones, from the road you don't get the scale of how big these stones really are so I was glad to have finally seen them from close up.

After a brief stop in Taunton to visit an old school friend it was on to the Tarr Steps at Dulverton, this is an impressive bridge also made with huge flat stones, from a distance it looks very unstable but when you are on the bridge I don't think anything but the biggest flood would ever move them.

Following on from the Tarr Steps I went off to week Lynmouth for a couple of nights and having never been to the area before I had no idea what to expect.

There was a devastating flood in 1952 which killed many people and destroyed a great deal of the village around the river and the Glen Lyn Gorge was re-built after in 1962, also in Lynmouth there is an interesting history centre and memorial to those who lost their lives in the flood.

The pictures below show the harbour as it looks since it was re-built after the floods.

Lynmouth is a very pretty place so much to photograph and so little time to see it all, think I will have to go back soon.

There is another very small town not far from Lynmouth called Lynton, you can get to the town by using a cliff railway that travels up the very steep cliff, the following picture is taken from the top of the cliff railway looking back down towards Lynmouth.

Also on my trip I went to Watersmeet where the East and West Lyn river meet, this is a very pretty and unspoilt area indeed, just wish I had more time to explore it and take more photos.

Also on my trip around North Devon I went to Woolacombe, which is a very popular area for surfers as the beautiful sandy beach make it a perfect spot.

There were SO many people and dogs all enjoying the weather and the huge expanse of beach.

My pictures are available on canvas

As well as trying to sell my images through my Zazzle shop front I also use a site that prints my pictures onto quality canvases. ThePIC has about 100 of my best images and they are available in varying sizes for purchase.

I decided on using thePIC as the canvas and inks used are of good quality and should last the test of time, other printers maybe cheaper but you get what you pay for!
